Stephen R. Smith is a partner in the Phoenix law firm of Stillman Smith Gadow where his practice is limited to complex family law litigation, mediation, and appellate matters. Mr. Smith has practiced family law for more than 30 years. He has been a Certified Specialist in Family Law since 2000 and a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (“AAML”) since 2011. He served as President of the Arizona Chapter of the AAML for 2016-17. Mr. Smith has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® been listed in Super Lawyers® since 2019. Mr. Smith received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Arizona State University and his law degree from Whittier College where he was a member of the Whittier Law Review. He has been a member of the Family Law Advisory Commission to the Arizona State Bar Board of Legal Specialization since 2008 and was Chairman of the Commission from 2012-16, and for 2026-27. Mr. Smith is a frequent presenter at seminars on all aspects of family law.
When not practicing law, he enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife, Kim, are avid campers and travelers. Steve is also a devoted, lifelong Sun Devil sports fan.
